We rescued Molly from San Bernardino City Shelter when we saw her photo on the internet. We had no way of knowing that she was pregnant. But good things come in small packages! She blessed our rescue with 9 puppies just a few weeks later. Thanks to our wonderful vet, Dr. Wurster at Governor Animal Clinic and a host of volunteers and helpers we managed to survive (as well as the puppies! ) and do right by Miss Molly. Puppies are a huge challenge to any rescue. These little ones required milk replacement and hand feeding once Molly decided she was finished after just a few weeks. Lots of shots, worming and sleepless nights. A special thank you to Naomi for helping to make sure all the pups were properly vetted for adoption. Molly is now Kaylee and will never have to be a mom again, she was barely a year old when she had the puppies. This story really shows the importance of spaying your pups ! Each of her pups was spayed and neutered and placed in great homes.

We spotted this little angel at the shelter
in San Bernardino,
he was simply known as
A 468213.
He looked so
very sad and neglected.

We knew he was wonderful just by looking at him!
Our transporter, Michelle volunteered to go save him and bring him to San Diego. Our foster Linda cared for him until he was adopted a few months later.
We named him Dodger.
He is with his new big sister, Eva, playing the piano.

We knew he was rock star and deserved his very own happily ever after!

Sometimes LOVE is right before your eyes and you don't even see it! Cole who was saved from San Bernardino City Shelter was cared for and walked by our volunteer Sid for almost 2 years, several times a week. Then WHAM, one day, Sid falls in love and adopts Cole and they both live happily ever after.
Seriously,
happily ever after!

Miss Lizzy

A diamond in the ruff !

When we go to the shelter, we have to look past what we see, hear and smell. It's never easy to go to the shelter knowing we can't take everyone with us.

When I saw Lizzy and connected with her eyes, I knew that I would have to rescue her. I was there to save another dog, which I did.. but when she caught my eye and I was immediatley drawn to her scruffy, matted, filthy little face. I had driven over a 100 miles to the shelter, and then found that she wasn't available to be adopted to a rescue until the next day. So
the next day, we drove
back to get her!

She is the most wonderful dog, beautiful, sweet, smart and she was adopted by a family in Pacific Beach and living happily ever after. She goes work with her mum, cafes in Little Italy, and long runs on the beach.

We love you Lizzy and couldn't be more happy to have saved your life and gave you
a 2nd chance,

YOU DESERVE IT !

Miss Jewells was rescued from
San Bernardino City Shelter, when she was only about 3 months old.
She was picked up as a stray.

We saw her photo with her big ears and her funny back feet with 5 toes. We fell in love with her instantly. She was picked up by our transporter and taken directly to the vet. It was a vet that we don't normally use, but because they offered boarding, we took Jewells there along with 2 other dogs because we were full at the time.

As she was settling in, we received a call from the vet that she was very sick. We count our blessings because had she been brought right to our home, we could have infected the other dogs and our whole environment and precious
time would have been wasted.

The vet immediately did a parvo test, and she tested postive. Parvo is highly contagious, viral disease in puppies. Often fatal, up to 90% of the time if the dog is not treated. Parvo requires immediate care and quarantine. We transferred her to our vet, and began treatment immediately. She was hospitalized for nearly a week all together, and on then quarantined in our home for 4 weeks.

It was touch and go at first, but since we caught it early, and she had some weight on her and her robust personality, she thrived,
and beat the disease.

She is a little fighter, and it was so rewarding to see her get better and better each day. She stayed with us in the rescue for a little over a year, learning her manners,
how to walk on a leash, getting along with other dogs. Jewells was TV on KUSI and CW6 with Darlene White.

Jewells was then spayed and adopted by one of our volunteers who fell in madly in love with her.
Jewells now lives in La Jolla, from the mean streets of San Bernardino!

Molly's NINE pups born at the rescue May 2013

Our
Mission Statement

Our mission at Lucky Pup Dog Rescue is twofold,  our primary focus is to  rescue homeless,
adoptable dogs from death row in high kill shelters in Southern California.

Virtually every dog we rescue is in their eleventh hour.  We transport them to San Diego,
nurse them back to health, and find loving homes for them.
We provide top notch medical care, grooming, vaccinations,
spay/neuter and socialization.

Our second mission is to raise awareness and educate pet lovers about the current horrific problem
of pet overpopulation in the shelters around the country, Southern California specifically.
We provide information, tools and opportunities for people to become involved to help solve this problem.
